Ohio State finally has its new offensive coordinator — and it’s a move that tells us exactly how Ryan Day wants to run this program.
The Buckeyes hired Arthur Smith, a former NFL head coach and longtime NFL play-caller, to take over the offense. This wasn’t a panic move or a message-board hire. It was Ryan Day going back to the same checklist he’s trusted time and time again.
In this episode of The Daily Buckeye Blitz, we break down:
• Why Ryan Day consistently hires veteran NFL play-callers
• How Arthur Smith fits the same mold as Chip Kelly and Bill O’Brien
• What this hire says about Day returning to CEO mode
• Why the run game is the real story behind the move
• How Smith’s offense pairs with Day’s passing concepts
• Legitimate concerns — and why Ohio State is built to handle them
Arthur Smith checked every box Day was looking for. Now the real work begins.
