Josh Hubbard scored 15 points, and Quincy Ballard added 13 as Mississippi State dominated LSU from the opening tip in an 80–66 victory on Wednesday night.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a fast start, shooting 60% and outrebounding LSU 17–5 in the first 10 minutes to build a commanding 30–10 lead. Later in the half, a 13–3 run extended Mississippi State’s advantage, giving them a 44–17 lead. The Bulldogs carried a 44–21 advantage into halftime.

LSU tried to chip away in the second half, cutting the margin to 58–42 seven minutes in. Mississippi State responded with a 10–2 run sparked by two 3-pointers from Jayden Epps, pushing the lead back to 68–44. The biggest lead of the second half came at 72–46 with about 10 minutes remaining. LSU managed to keep the deficit under 20 points over the final six minutes, scoring the last five points of the game in that stretch.

Max Mackinnon led LSU with 15 points, while Dedan Thomas Jr. and Rashad King scored 14 apiece and Pablo Tamba added 10. Ja’Borri McGhee contributed 11 points, and Sergej Macura added 10 for Mississippi State.

The win allowed the Bulldogs to improve to 11–10, 3–5 SEC, while LSU fell to 13–8 overall and 1–7 in conference play.
