History tells us that the South Carolina Gamecocks football program hit its pinnacle under former head coach Steve Spurrier when several of the best Palmetto State high school football prospects of the decade elected to stay at home and play for the Gamecocks. After more than a decade, it appears the 2026 and particularly the 2027 cycles feature way more nationally-recognized top talent (i.e. top 100, potential five stars) than at any point since those glory years.
