Thuney, in the final year of his $80 million contract, is expected to ink a 2-year extension before the 2025 season kicks off.

Thuney, one of the NFL’s most dependable offensive linemen, has played in multiple Super Bowls, protecting elite quarterbacks like Tom Brady in New England and Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City. Known for his durability, versatility, and elite pass-blocking, Thuney brings instant leadership and championship experience to Ben Johnson’s new-look offense, and more importantly, he'll be critical in protecting No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams in his rookie season.

Since entering the league in 2016, Thuney has started in over 120 games, has never allowed more than 3 sacks in a season, and has only missed 1 game in his entire career. With the Bears' offensive line undergoing a rebuild, his presence is a cornerstone for the unit's stability.

After Thuney, the Bears must turn their attention to hard-hitting safety Jaquan Brisker. A second-round pick in 2022, Brisker has been a tone-setter in the secondary with 183 total tackles, 7 sacks, 1 INT, and 2 fumble recoveries over his first two seasons. His aggressive, downhill style is tailor-made for new defensive coordinator Dennis Allen, and his ability to blitz, cover tight ends, and play near the box adds flexibility to the scheme.

However, the Bears face a tough decision—Brisker has missed time due to injuries, including multiple concussions and soft tissue issues. While his upside is massive, offering a long-term extension comes with risk. The front office must weigh potential against durability before committing.
