These sweeping changes aren’t just about the X’s and O’s — it’s about intensity, confidence, and a new standard. Johnson’s leadership style is being felt already by veterans and rookies alike.
🎙️ Appearing on The Herd, Johnson addressed the much-talked-about Caleb Williams situation, stating:
“I see a chance for greatness here for him. He’s been communicative that way. He feels the same way. I don’t know about what’s gone on before I joined the organization, but he’s very proud to be a Chicago Bear.”
Johnson added:
“That’s what our conversations have included. He’s really excited to get to work right now and be the best version of himself for 2025. There’s no question we’ll face adversity. We want to see growth over the course of the season. It’s not going to be linear growth.”
When asked about the Bears’ early BYE week in the 2025 schedule, Johnson responded with confidence:
“I actually like where that bye week is, because it usually takes about four weeks into the season to find out who you are as a team, what you do well, what you don’t do well, and that’s a good time so we can reflect on that as a coaching staff so we can hone in on what we want to be for the remaining three-quarters of the season.”
🧱 New Additions Making Noise:
🔥 Drew Dalman (C) – Brings high football IQ, reliability in pass protection, and athleticism in zone schemes. Johnson now has a smart, mobile anchor at the pivot.
🔥 Joe Thuney (G) – A veteran All-Pro presence. Thuney elevates the offensive line’s mentality and brings postseason experience to a young group.
🔥 Jonah Jackson (G) – Physical mauler with a chip on his shoulder. Perfect complement to Thuney — adds nastiness and consistency in the trenches.
🔥 Grady Garrett (DE) – Rookie with raw athletic upside. Expected to contribute immediately on passing downs and develop into a future anchor on the edge.
🔥 Colston Loveland (TE) – Dynamic pass-catching TE who gives Caleb Williams another reliable target. Great size, route-running, and YAC potential.
🔥 Luther Burden (WR) – Electric playmaker with elite separation skills and burst. Adds explosiveness to an already upgraded WR room. Could be a breakout rookie.
…and more moves are likely on the way.
Coach Johnson is preaching accountability, self-reflection, and daily improvement — setting the tone with both rookies and veterans. The vibe at Halas Hall is all business, and the players are embracing the challenge.
Expect a new era in Chicago, with Caleb Williams positioned for growth, the offense getting revamped protection and firepower, and a coaching staff with a clear long-term vision.
