The Brock Purdy contract:
5-year deal, worth $265 million. Purdy gets $181 million in total guaranteed cash, which includes $165+ million in the first three new years of the contract that runs through 2030. Tom Pelissero broke the news.
My Brock Purdy contract prediction was:
$53-55 million (Purdy gets $53 million, tying him with Jared Goff for the 7th highest-paid QB in football)
Purdy also gets $181 million in total guaranteed money. My prediction was $200 million, so that's a win for the Niners.
I also said it'd be structured like a 3-4 year contract. This deal includes $165+ million in the first three new years of the contract.
For anybody who doesn't think the Brock Purdy contract extension is worth it, this contract is a WIN for the 49ers.
There was talk about him getting $60 million per year or becoming the highest paid QB ever. It doesn't come close to that.
$53 million ties him with Jared Goff for 7th on the highest-paid QB list and he'll drop as other QB's get paid.
