Virginia Tech running back Ryan Williams was thrust into a starting role for the Hokies after Darren Evans suffered a season-ending ACL injury and Williams made the most out of his opportunity to say the very least. In his first season in Blacksburg, the Manassas, VA native set the VT single-season records for rushing yards and touchdowns as well as becoming the first freshman to lead the ACC in rushing years and scoring in the same season. Following the 2009 season, Williams was honored as the ACC Rookie and Offensive Rookie of the Year. Williams would put together an excellent career at Tech and would become a 2nd-round draft pick of the New England Patriots.
