The 2001 Miami Hurricanes are lauded as one of the greatest college football teams ever assembled. The 'Canes finished an undefeated season with a National Championship win over Nebraska. Among the many superstars and superstars in the making was their fantastic running back room. Clinton Portis, Willis McGahee and Frank Gore would all go on to NFL glory after their spectacular careers at "The U." Portis was the leading rusher in 2001 and posted 1,325 all-purpose yards with 11 total scores. He would be the 51st overall pick of the Denver Broncos in the 2002 NFL Draft. Gore was the most dynamic of the bunch, averaging a whopping 9.1 yards per carry in addition to rushing for 562 yards and 5 touchdowns. He would be selected 65th overall in the 2005 draft by the San Francisco 49ers. McGahee was beginning his ascension as a Hurricane and rushed for 314 yards and 3 scores.
