One thing I love about Quinn Ewers is that when you watch him play, he doesn’t try to overpower things with his arm. You heard all about how great his arm was, but when you watch him throw, he’s got great pace and touch on the football. Sometimes, people even want him to throw it a little harder in certain situations.
One thing I’ve noticed is that because he is so talented with his arm, you will see his technique get away from him at times. When I was watching him throughout the season, I thought, “Oh man, his technique gets away from him quite often.” But when I actually watched the tape, it wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected. It didn’t show up quite as much as I thought it would.
That said, there are definitely times when his feet get away from him, and he tries to rely solely on his right arm — and that’s one area where he can struggle. But overall, I thought there were a lot of really, really good things. He was under a lot of scrutiny playing in Texas, with Manning behind him, the pressure of possibly being replaced, and dealing with an injury — all of that.
Still, he’s another guy who shows a lot of ability to work through his progressions, to make different kinds of throws, and to demonstrate enough arm talent to make every throw you need at the next level.
So let’s dive into the tape and take a look. #quinnewers #nfldraft #nfl
